SNOW 2010

The first real snow this season that the kids could really play in has arrived!!! (Note we were en route to NC for the Blizzard in December.) Maybe there will be enough for a snowman later, but for now, the girls made some pretty nice snow angels before Laney got too cold and wanted some cocoa.

Carina got her chance to really get out in the snow and still doesn't like it much, but we did get a few shots of her so we can officialy dub them her first snow pictures.

Happy Snow Day to You!

Cien!!

This evening Mia wanted to show me something she could do.

So I sat here as she counted one number at a time from Uno to Cien (yes, in Spanish!) Evidently today was her 100th day of school.

Bravo, Mia!! Muy Bien!!

Mia's First Day of Kindergarten

Today was Mia's first day of Kindergarten. No tears, no hard goodbyes, just a seemingly regular day at school - can you believe it?!?

She's attending the Spanish Immersion Magnet program at Rolling Terrace Elementary School here in Takoma Park, and will be taught in Spanish for the day, except during Art, Music, PE, and Library time.

Her teacher is one of the "good ones", I've been assured by veteran parents we know, and she reported that she had a good time! Aside from that, we didn't get a lot of feedback from her in regards to what she did today, other than that she went to the "Sports Room" (aka Gym) for some games, and learned the word Peacock in Spanish. I'll be looking forward to Folder Wednesdays, where we get info and homework from the teacher.

Congratulations to our little school girl!

Laney visits the Dentist!

Laney had her first dentist visit yesterday, and all went well. Her favorite part? The toothpaste and Mister Thirsty! It didn't hurt that she got a PINK toothbrush as well. Here's hoping all her visits are this good.

G is for Great Time at the Fair!

What a great time we had at the fair this morning! And, yes, we did get to see some goats, so we fit that into our G Day theme. I'm sure Mia will say her favorite part was getting to ride a Pony for the VERY FIRST TIME, and Laney will probably say that seeing the baby ducks was her favorite. Laney also kept telling us "I a Moo!" meaning that she was pretending to be a cow. :) How darling. I, of course, was nostalgic for my 'tween years when I participated in our local county fair with 4H in the cooking, crafts, and rabbit showmanship areas. I was really tempted to purchase one of the pet rabbits they had for sale this morning. Wouldn't Patrick be enchanted if he came home to a new pet he had no idea about?!?

Anyway, after the kids wake up from their naps/"quiet time" we will attempt to Grow some seeds. Well, we will plant them at the very least. The corn that Grandaddy got the girls for planting a few months ago is doing quite well, though so far no corn to eat. But the plants are tall and great fun to see!

Happy G Day! If you are following along, some interesting G things include: giraffes, goats, granola, growing, golf, gold, growl, grizzly bear, garlic, go, giggle, ganache, gyroscope, grasshopper, goldfish, gingerbread, grandparents, Germany, and gelato* (YUMMY!).

*brought to you by Julie, who just returned from Italy.

Mia Quote of the Day -
"Mommy! HELP! I dropped my tiara in the potty and I already pooped!" (Some days you just LOVE being a mom...)
