Cherry Recipes, Please?

What to do with cherries that are almost too ripe to use? Anyone have a good cherry recipe that calls for fresh cherries? The ones I have seen in my google searches are yielding results that call for dried or canned cherries.

Thanks friends!

Mothers' Day Whirlwind Weekend

Whew! What a busy and fun weekend! We started off by heading to Mia's last soccer game of the season, where she received a medal and had fun despite being the only girl on the team this week. We then scooted over to the girls' preschool for the Truck Touch, a fun and lively annual event. I had to work the ticket table while the girls and Daddy got to enjoy the festivities, mostly just running around on the playground and seeing their school friends
Later that afternoon, after a quick potluck prep, we headed over to our next door neighbors house for their annual Cinco de Mayo party, after which we crashed readily.

I awoke Mother's Day to the smell of bacon and coffee, and chocolate / banana and strawberry crepes - YUMMY!! Patrick was hoping to bring them to me in bed, but Laney had other plans and came to get me a wee bit early. Mia and Laney had each made a gift at school and were very excited for me to open them. How cute! Mia made adorable stationery complete with envelopes, and Laney made a beautiful bubble wrap painting with a pink matte. Beautiful!

After dressing and playing for a little while, we headed to lunch at Benihana, where the kids were excited to watch the "show" put on by our Chef. It was really fun, and we left stuffed. We spent the rest of the day looking for the perfect tub drain and toilet for our new bath and resting up from our busy day earlier.

Happy Mothers' Day to all my Mom friends!

Too Funny for Words!

Have a laugh, and if you have 3 kids, have a cry while you're at it. This site is too funny!

Enjoy!

Construction Resumes...

and the winner is... The Upstairs Bath!!! Thank Goodness you got to see a picture of the old one before it's torn down! My dad has been making some great progress upstairs as we move some walls around, add a new doorway, create a new bath where there was none, and remove the old bath and turn it into a closet that will actually expand the usable space in the yellow bedroom.

Now all I can do is hope against all hope that we get this done before Baby arrives (and it would be great, too, if our stocks gained about 300%). Wish us luck! And, as always, we'll keep you posted.

Soccer

Well we usually start each Saturday morning with a whine. Mia doesn't want to go to soccer. She doesn't like it. When we get there (late), she will only participate if Patrick or I hold her hand while she's running or kicking or learning to dribble. Well, this doesn't work very well while trying to run or kick or learn to dribble.
Finally this Saturday we had a breakthrough! The coaches split the team up and began a scrimmage this weekend and Mia LOVED it! She made a goal, she was able to control the ball to some degree, and I think she finally found some of the confidence she seemed to be lacking in the previous weeks. It didn't hurt either that all her friends from school were on her side of the field. :)
Next week is the last week of the season and she will get the medal I promised her she would get if she just kept going even though she didn't want to. Now I think she might even sign up for another season and is getting Laney interested as well. We will still likely venture into other sports she's interested in, including swimming, gymnastics, karate, and ice skating/hockey, but I'm really happy we are ending the soccer season on a high note.

Potty Training

...is underway! Laney is very successfully potty training with the help of her big Sissy. However, we still need to work on how much potty paper to use.
