A Bit About Laney

Ok, so it seems to me that Laney is a little bit left out when it comes to space on the blog. So, this entry is all about Elena.

Her name is officially Elena, but we call her Laney around here. You are welcome to call her either. Laney is 9 months old, and a very good eater. She is becoming quite independent and wants to do everything that Mia gets to do, but of course, we don't let her.

She is pulling up on furniture (and consequently banging her head), teething, and likes to eat anything she can pick up with her pincher fingers, including fuzz, cheerios, toys, bugs, old peas found under the dining table, you name it.

Weaning is still ongoing. She doesn't particularly like the bottle when the other option is available, and still wakes at night to nurse. Since she is far from starving, we will begin more stringent sleep training as soon as we get back from Jennifer Dilworth's wedding weekend.

Laney is our smiley one. She was pretty much born smiling and is just a happy person. She can play independently for quite a while with toys, and LOVES to turn pages in a board book. This week, we like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Mia picks on Laney quite a bit, so she has some defending to do in her future, but we help out in the meantime. :) Laney is also very analytical. She will try something over and over until she gets it. Unlike her sister, however, she doesn't just try HARDER each time, she tries a DIFFERENT WAY each time. And, she doesn't seem to complain and throw things when it's not working. Perhaps it's just the age, but I think it's amazing to watch her figure something out at such a young age.

Speaking of the two, they are now awake from naps and thus, the blogging must end for now. Happy Aboriginal American Month!!
