Bathroom Progress

Here are a few photos of our bathroom progress. Woo-hoo! We are almost at the point in which the tile goes up! These pics show my dad adding the last of the hardiebacker and drywall, and Mia and Laney standing in the shower pan, which now has cement in it, and hardibacker surrounding it. Can't wait to show you finished pics, though I still need to order the glass walls for the shower - so it may be a few weeks before we can call it complete.

The Living Room

Growing up, we always had a Living Room. But we hardly used it. It was the place Mom could decorate with whatever she wanted, including glass trinkets, candles, expensive things that we shouldn't touch. Mom and Dad might head there with their friends for an after dinner drink and conversation after a dinner party, but mostly it was just a dust collecting room, or a room that one used to call a parlor.


My current living room, however, should probably be renamed the Multi Purpose Room. Remember those in school? Ours is a place for conversation, a media room, playground, a toy box, a dance studio, an art gallery, a boxing ring, a gym, a concert hall, a drama theater, a dining room, a horse farm, and on occasion, a fort or princess castle.

Lunar Eclipse

Here are a few shots of the lunar eclipse tonight. Hard to believe we could get photos of it, but we did! Go Canon!

Red Light Green Light

So, Mia and I play a little game at stoplights that I used to play with my mom when I was a little girl. When a light is red, I ask Mia to use her magic nose to turn the light green. Most of the time, thanks to my careful timing, it works!

Yesterday, while on the way to preschool, Mia took it upon herself to try to wiggle her nose to get the light to turn green.

Here is the dialogue:

"Mommy, I'm going to turn the light green with my magic!"
"Ok honey, thank you."
(After a few tries) "Mommy? I'm out of batteries!"

Too Busy to Write?

Well, maybe. It seems like the bathroom is whizzing along and looking more like a real room every day. We were also lucky enough to have my mom come up and join the fun for Valentines' Day! So between the full house, the single mini bath upstairs (perhaps I should put photos of it up here so you can see what I mean) and with keep-them-busy activities for the girls, meals for all of us, kitchen and bath planning, and Mt. Washmore looking at me from the scary basement, I seem to find my days completely full. The only problem is that at the end of each day I wonder what in the world did I accomplish today? I have no idea.

Tomorrow Mia and I have a special Mommy and Mia day planned. Stay tuned for the details...




Mia's cupcakes - It seems my children are always covered in some food in my blog pictures. I swear they do not look like this all the time, I must just find the situation humorous enough to take a pic. Who knows? From now on, though, methinks I will try harder to wipe their faces off before grabbing the Canon.


The Bathroom Remodel Continues - all the rough-in plumbing is complete, the electrical boxes are in, the bathroom fan and ceiling are in, the insulation is in, and the drywall and hardiebacker installation is in progress! Woo-hoo!
